Prescriptions

All prescriptions and refill requests should be made during regular office hours. Please have your pharmacy contact us for the renewal of medications.

We attempt to provide enough refills for your ongoing prescriptions to last until your next office visit. If you expect to run out of medication before your next visit, please ask for refills while in the office.

Allow 3 business days for refill requests to be filled when made outside of an office visit. If you have run out of your medication, your pharmacy should be able to give you a 3-day emergency supply of most medications.

For patients requiring prescription medications, regular office visits are essential. The frequency of these visits depends on the specific medication prescribed. Due to the high volume of daily medication refill requests via phone calls, we kindly request that you request prescription refills either during your scheduled appointment or through the Patient Portal. This practice helps us maintain the highest standard of patient care.

If you ever need to contact the office for a prescription refill, please remember that it is your responsibility to notify us in a timely manner. We recommend calling at least one week in advance (preferably two weeks) before your medication is due to run out, or two weeks ahead if you utilize a mail-order pharmacy. Please make sure to check for active refills by reviewing your medication label. If you remain uncertain about active refills, you may also contact your pharmacy.

When leaving a voicemail for a prescription refill request, please provide a clear message including:

  1. Your first name and the correct spelling of your last name
  2. Date of birth
  3. Medication name, dosage, and frequency (indicating how often you take the medication daily)
  4. The name of the pharmacy where you wish the prescription to be sent
  5. Specify whether you need a 30- or 90-day supply

Questions regarding your medications should be addressed during your appointment with your provider. Any new symptoms or events necessitate an appointment to ensure proper evaluation by your provider, maintaining our commitment to patient safety and quality of life.

Please note that the approval of your refill may take up to three business days, and we can only address medication refills during regular business hours. Additionally, ensure that any required lab work or specialist doctor visits related to medication monitoring are completed before requesting your medication refill. We do not refill medications prescribed by other healthcare providers.

It is the responsibility of the patient to store medication in a safe manner, preventing loss or theft of your medication and/or written prescription. Providers will not write scripts prior to your refill due date due to theft or loss. Indications of suspicious behavior including frequent early refill requests, lost prescriptions, use of multiple pharmacies, and recurrent canceled or missed appointments will result in the denial of refill requests. Providers reserve the right to terminate treatment with a controlled substance at any time.
